A conversion is a desired result as a consequence of marketing strategy. In most cases, companies define a conversion as a sale, but it can be any number of results, including:

  • A sale
  • Email subscription
  • Social Media follow
  • Website Subscription
  • Download of PDF
  • Mobile app download
  • Completion of a survey
  • Video views
  • Podcast listens
  • Or even the completion of a task, such as visiting three web pages on the website or staying on a product page for 90 seconds

Conversions can be tracked in many ways, but the easiest is to use Google Analytics to set up conversion tracking and record the conversions (sales for example).
