Snapchat is an image and video messaging social networking app. It’s available only for mobile use on cell phones.
Snapchat has evolved into a mix of private messaging and public content, which includes brand networks, publications, and live events such as sports and music. As of March 2016, the personal oriented messaging was still being accessed by users more than the publicly offered content that was being presented. 71% of users surveyed said that they preferred the app for its chat, messaging, and imaging services, versus 5% who almost exclusively chose the various events, published features, and media content on a daily basis.
Snapchat users trend toward younger Millennials, age 16-21. They tend to be the generation who are less likely to use social media networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Snapchat allows users to attach graphic filters to their photos and videos to enhance them. For example, users can add stickers and animate photos with pre-selected graphics and animations.
